Natalyn Obey sought to understand what was missing from the natural hair care industry. Natural hair styling and maintenance is no easy task. NaturalCurlJunkie is about making the full natural and transitioning to natural processes as simple as possible.  With 15 years + in natural hair care, maintenance, and styling, she has used her passions of engaging with people and understanding their beauty needs to launch NaturalCurlJunkie.com, a personal mobile natural beauty consulting service.

As a Child

Being "tender-headed", was one of the most memorable moments of my childhood. Although my mother would like to say I was simply spoiled, the tears that flowed down my cheeks every time a comb touched my scalp were very real. I was embarrassed to go to the salon. The stylist would make me feel as if my pain was unreal. As if I was merely being overdramatic. The lack of care and attention to my natural hair care needs caused a chain reaction in me. I demanded to be free from the pain of getting my hair done. From myself, to my friends, to their parents, to my community, I found hair to do. I found other natural hair wearers that needed and wanted to have beautiful hair without being overcharged and left with a half-decent style., Lord, let's not forget all the pain.

As a Designer

My objective as a designer is to find the unique in the natural beauty of each client. Just like the Minimalists of 1960s an d1970's I seek to find the beauty in the simplistic, but natural hair at times cannot be simplistic. The intricate wraps, coils, braids, curls, rows, and dreads that are formed give way to many approaches to the art of hair. But, I digress, natural hair is my canvas to design works of art catered to the needs and the financial demands of each client.
The NaturalCurlJunkie Hair Designer has 3 main goals:
Uniqueness, Longevity, Affordability
Keeping these in mind, a NaturalCurlJunkie hair designer has the duty to provide services that are tailored to the needs of each individual client. A style, that will stay beautiful during the hustle and bustle of the every day life and will not crush their budget.

My Hair Is My Crown

Your hair has more of an impact on your daily walk than then any Christian Loubitan’s you wish you could wear on your feet. It sets the mood for the day, and when it’s done right the benefits are immense. I encourage my clients to wear their hair with a purpose, as I do myself. Design with purpose. The simplest things offer the most beauty. Natural hair and transitional styling can be easy and affordable. I believe that God has offered everyone the gift of hair, even those who are completely bald. The combination of accepting one’s natural appearance and feeling beautiful are simultaneous actions. We can not say we are beautiful just for a moment. We are beautiful because it pours out of us. Our hair is our crown. My natural king’s and queens…wear with PRIDE!
